What’s happening nearby?
Use Untappd to stay on top of all the beer-centric events happening at your favorite breweries. You can also elect to have notifications sent for things like new beer releases. If you’re someone who hates squinting at the tap list while impatient drinkers queue behind you in a new-to-you venue, use the app to scan available beers before you go. With brews strategically chosen ahead of time, you can save game-time decisions for things like how many orders of fries to get from the food truck.
What beers are trending?
You can scan bottles with the app and see how others have rated them. If you want to know what’s popular, use the trending search. Trending results can be filtered both nationally and locally.
What am I drinking?
Beer connoisseurs have been tracking and journaling since 2010. Start your journey by checking into your favorites and rating them. The app also encourages you to taste and rate new beers. Photograph the beers to remember them later. Best of all, based on your past reactions to different beers, Untappd recommends new beers.
If you’re interested in keeping track of your palate long-term, you can go back and rate the same beer a second time. Some users report that they often disagree with earlier assessments of the same beers. Want to track your consumption long-term? Go to Year in Beer, connect it to Untappd, and see how many pints fueled your most recent trip around the sun.
Where are my friends?
This is a social app, so you’ll be able to see which friends like the brewery and which beers they’re drinking. You’ll be able to see where your friends have checked in as well as comment on their beer selections and ratings. You’ll also earn visible badges for all your hard work drinking and rating. The badges are intended to lend you an expert’s credibility in the areas you explore most. Display them proudly if you’re into all that. Afraid you went over your limit? Never fear. Untappd lets you call an Uber from inside the app.
Overview: I wrote this post for the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail. It is designed to drive traffic to both Beerwerks breweries and the Untappd app. This content needed to be written and edited in a few hours due to time and budget constraints.
Audience: The audience for this post enjoys both beer and social media.
What I did: I wrote instructions for using the app and for getting the most out of the Beerwerks experience. I researched the Untappd app to see what it did. I collected vocabulary from the site and conversation mined the app’s reviews. I wrote this in a series of questions and answers to demonstrate the app’s main functions.
What I did: I added links so users could download the app as well as sign up for the Beerwerks promotional Passport program.
